The Figure Sublime, Group Exhibit | 08/20/21 - 09/112/21
For an artist, the human figure is the most fundamental subject taught in most entry level art classes. In the media and in Art history the figure has been the forefront symbol of communication and a visual subject of desire and of the human condition. To do the figure an original way in this day and era poses a challenge to artists as they proceed forward with their own personal interpretation.
The Figure sublime is an exhibition of 10 artists who submitted work for this show. The work includes innovation in materials including digital media, painting, fiber arts, glass and ceramic sculpture. The artists used these materials approaching figurative subject matter with a modern impression in a traditional theme.
The exhibit runs until Sept 12th Friday through Sundays from 12 to 4 pm. And First Friday in September from 5 to 9 pm.
Kristy Smith, Jim Olson, Menelik Marutle, Andrew Buchanan, Richard Chamberlain, Denise Demby, Denise Dundon, Jean Harmon, Helene Strebel and Megan Morgan.
